Frequently Asked Questions ...
How does it differ from Swedish?
This massage works on the meridien lines of the body so it is unlike Swedish and is not a muscular skeletal massage. It starts with dry techniques and then oil is used. It may look like Thai or Shiatsu at the beginning but then is has its own identity when using the oil. Deep tissue moves are applied and nodules are treated. The whole body is treated from toes to ears including face and sit-up at the end. On the stomach deep colonic work is applied with a fantastic technique to tighten the Uterus generally performed after childbirth.
What are the benefits of this massage?
You work on the internal organs and all the systems to achieve balance and harmony. The meridians will stimulate all the organs and circulation. The lymph is drained and the immune system is strengthened. Excess toxins will be released and you will change the “Life force energy” of the client. The Asian philosophy is to maintain the body not just fix it!
Is this a difficult/hard massage to give?
It is generally performed with a lot more pressure but with less effort. This is achieved by setting the bed lower and using the body weight. All the power comes from the stomach by breathing and leaning down in to the client….most effective and less tiring.
How long is the treatment?
Generally the massage will take 1hr 15mins – 1hr 30mins
How much is an average cost?
Generally I say 50-60 pounds per massage but it really depends on your hourly rate! In London they charge 75-100 and up North they may charge 35 pounds.
Is it a relaxing massage?
The tempo of this massage is more upbeat, the Balinese music help to sustain this, and the client will feel energized and stimulated. She will relax during the treatment but will be full of vitality when finished.
How popular is this treatment?
A lot of the therapists who have attended the course are now saying it is one of their most popular. Even the aromatherapy clients are changing over!
How many treatments does a client need to see the benefit?
Generally they will feel good after one but the first massage is usually the most sensitive due to the meridians being blocked.
I would sell a course of 3 back to back with 5-7days in-between. The client starts to feel quite considerable changes within that time and then you may space the other massages out. Not leaving it any longer than 3 weeks between treatments. It generally sells itself due to the results!
Do I need to be qualified?
A qualification in A&P is required for insurance purposes and basic body massage skills.
It is a powerful massage without healing but I do encourage you to learn Reiki to enhance your level of treatment. I am a Reiki master and do hold additional course if required.
Where can I try this treatment?
There are approx 100 therapist in the UK . If you wish to “Find a therapist” go to www.indonesiansecrets.com and look under that heading.
