Fact Sheet, Essentials Spa Products Most products are produced within the company's own workshop, at the foot of Temple, along Bali's southwest shore. This temple is among the island's six most powerful and important shrines. Directly employing more than 100 people from the surrounding area, Essentials generates income and livelihood for many, predominantly women, who otherwise could not provide support for their families. Soaps, from Essentials own recipes, are made by 20 workers in Pupuan village, in Bali. Essentials' initiative in Pupuan has generated a cottage industry, which now supplies other soap products to the local retail and export market, creating income where only subsistence farming previously existed. As product demand expands, more women are employed in remote villages on the neighbouring island of Java, to blend Essentials' recipes. This, again, develops additional cottage industry in low income areas, contributing to the welfare of entire villages. The more products sold, the more employment is created. Care is taken to guard the environment in each step of production. All products are handmade and carefully hand-packaged. Bottles are recycled or remoulded from used, crushed glass. All labeling, papers and packaging materials are handmade from natural, local fibres, including kapok, rice, grass and bamboo. Even the boxes for packaging are handmade from these fibres under Essentials' supervision. No animal testing is conducted. Local women harvested by hand the flowers used in Essentials products. Other ingredients are sourced from the local or regional market. Essentials primary products are Body Scrubs and Masques, Aromatherapy Oils and Soaps. |
