A native of Western Australia, Maureen trained under the country's foremost herbalist, Dorothy Hall, receiving her Naturopathic certification. She followed with an Herbalist Diploma, from Flower Essence Remedies, in Western Australia. She has worked in the herbal and naturopathy fields for 20 years in Australia and Indonesia.

In 1993, Maureen began developing spa products in Indonesia, integrating her professional knowledge with local products, herbs, spices, flowers and essential oils. Focusing on the vitamins, minerals and nutrients naturally found in certain ingredients, she carefully combined and them into products imbued with naturally therapeutic benefits. She later began field trials and product testing for spas throughout the region, working with spa therapists and trainers.

It was a natural progression to develop her own line of products. Launching Essentials Spa Products in 1995. They were an instant success. Using the philosophy, "go slow and grow as you go", Maureen expanded the product line step by step, Essentials now markets Aromatherapy Oils for bath, body and massage; Natural Soap; Facial and Body Scrubs; Facial and Body Masques; Healing Packs; Bath Crystals and Bath Powder.

Essentials Spa Products are made entirely of pure and natural ingredients from the spice islands of Indonesia. They are blended with quality local and imported 100% pure essential oils, under Ms. Treacy's direct supervision.

Most products are produced within the company's own workshop, at the foot of Temple, along Bali's southwest shore. Care is taken to guard the environment in each step of production. All products are handmade and carefully hand-packaged. Bottles are recycled or remoulded from used, crushed glass. All labelling, papers, packaging materials and boxes are handmade from natural, local fibres, including kapok, rice, grass and bamboo. No animal testing is conducted.

Essential Spa Products are sold to retail and wholesale markets worldwide. Among clients in Bali are spas at Four Seasons Resort Jimbaran, Four Seasons Resort Sayan, Ritz-Carlton Bali, Amanresorts, Matahari Beach Resort, Begawan Giri Estate and Natura Resort. Essential Spa Products is a supplier to Cost Plus department stores in North America. The products are now being introduced in the United Kingdom.
